As my favorite topic, I probably read more books on strategy than on any other business topic. Perhaps given that, I’m particularly tough on my critiques of strategy books, hence the limited number of favorites below. But below are all well worth their weight in gold.
Blue Ocean Strategy: How to Create Uncontested Market Space and Make Competition Irrelevant
“BOS” has some clever business concepts and useful strategic frameworks that will help you rethink your business and generate new opportunities for innovation and growth. The book is also a quick read with minimal jargon and many good examples to illustrate the core concepts it presents. Very high “Insights per page read” (Ippr).
Contemporary Strategy Analysis
Solid, solid strategy “textbook” covering all of the topics of business & corporate strategy in a straightforward, non-academic manner. While by no means a dynamic book, it covers what you need to know and is a great reference to have by your side – be it in your physical or e-library.
